I listen to DC 101 on my way to work most mornings – I don’t know if you all are familiar with the Elliot in the Morning show – but he is a motorcyclist himself. Last Wednesday his partner Diane who covers news bits, mentioned that the helmet law reform bill had failed here in Virginia. She seemed to not even understand why anyone would propose this but Elliot’s comment was, “I don’t know, I can go either way on this one. When I’m in Houston I like to ride without a helmet, but I almost wish it was mandatory there so I would take the time to put one on.” In their discussion he asked how many states allow no helmet? And Diane said one or two I think! Elliot said “I know Texas and Florida, but I don’t know of any others.” And then they moved on to the next topic.
I found it interesting that they know so little on the subject, especially since Elliot rides. He is in such a high profile position, it would be worth our time to educate him a little. I never go to DC, but Elliot in the Morning is syndicated and he is heard in Richmond and VA Beach.
